We’re in this together. EDMO Live starts 3/23

Just like you, our whole world has been turned upside down by the Coronavirus. Our staff is suddenly balancing childcare, senior care, and personal care during this surreal health crisis. At the same time, we’re also finding new ways to express love and kindness. We’re renewing our gratitude for technology. We’re appreciating our interconnectedness both locally and globally. We’re learning new definitions of courage and realizing that creativity will fuel our resilience.

By Friday of last week, we learned just like you that every school district in the eight counties we serve with our afterschool and summer camps will be closed for at least 3 to 4 weeks. Our EDMO® team took this stunning news as the design challenge of a lifetime: Prototype a live, online curriculum that creates meaningful Maker, Science, Tech and SEL experiences for kids in K-8th grade whose homes vary in size, space and availability of materials.

We didn’t know how long it would take, but late last night we got good news from our dedicated team. We should be ready to pilot a daily EDMO Live online program starting Monday, March 23 @ 10am and 3pm PST. We’ll start with live Maker and Tech sessions led by our EDMO staff. Spaces will be limited for the first week. All pilot sessions will be free. More details and instructions on how to register will be announced by Friday of this week.

In return, we ask that you be our partner in learning. We’ll ask for candid, constructive feedback from all who participate. This could be a fantastic flop, a fantastic success, or likely, somewhere in between. It’s our staff’s first time teaching through an online platform. Fear and uncertainty will not stop us, however. Your kids are home. You need help right now. We want to be here for you. We’re all in this together and we’ll get through this together.

Have more suggestions? Please take a quick survey to share how EDMO® can support you in this time. Also, please note, we are operating as if our camps will run as planned this summer. We are following CA education-related news closely, and will keep you updated if any modification to our services, dates or policies should become necessary.

In Solidarity,
