Winter Break Camp – Space Explorers

Blast off with EDMO and explore our amazing universe! Students will complete introductory maker activities that investigate the beauty of our solar system and experiment with the principles of flight. Imagination and design skills will be in full force as we repurpose household materials to create rockets, unique planets and our very own UFOs.

Sample Projects

DIY Cardboard Space Shuttle

What We Do: Students will build a space shuttle from recycled materials and explore space travel through play.

What We Learn: Students’s imaginations will take off with their process-based creations as they learn the basic mechanics of flight and space travel and experience pretend play.

Cratered Moon Art

What We Do: Students will create their very own moon. They’ll add elements of color and texture to get depth and shape as they get hands-on experience with the Moon’s surface.

What We Learn: Students will leap into process-based creation, planning and critical thinking as they gain understanding of their own moons up close and literally a “hands-on” understanding of craters!

Build Your Own UFO

What We Do: Students will visualize and prototype their very own UFOs using ordinary art materials found in the classroom.

What We Learn: Students will learn how to plan and articulate choices and develop critical thinking and storytelling skills as they use materials available to invent and build as they take part in this out of this world project!
