All Programs

Be a Star! In YouTube Star 2.0, campers will learn about and practice the entire process of developing and maintaining a YouTube channel. Campers will collaborate to brainstorm the subject, format and style of their channel. Campers will then record both real-world and screen-captured footage with their audience in mind. Campers will learn to use OpenShot to edit their videos to add music and special effects.

21st Century & SEL Skill Focus: Creativity, Initiative, Collaboration, Communication, Empathy, Problem Solving, Responsibility. Learn more about other skills we build through The EDMO Method®.

Sample Projects

Planning Channels

Planning Channels

Let’s get it started! From “How-To” guides and movie reviews to variety vlogs and “Let’s Play” gaming shows, animation or art and everything in between, campers will get to choose from all kinds of styles and topics for their channels.

Campers will learn how to plan and prepare for the start of their YouTube channel; considering things like style, duration, production schedule, and more.

Capture Footage

Capture Footage

Time to make the videos! Campers will capture a combination of live-action footage from webcams and digital cameras, as well as screen-captured footage if their videos involve software or games, to get the video content they need.

Campers will learn about basic filming tips and techniques. They’ll also practice using screen recording tools.

Editing Videos

Editing Videos

It’s all about the finishing touches. Campers will add music, sounds, special effects, transitions, and more through video editing software. This will add polish to their videos before they are uploaded to YouTube.

Campers will learn how to use OpenShot, a free and cross-platform video editing software.
