Take a look at your camper's daily schedule below, under sample projects!

Sample Projects

Finger Puppets

Finger Puppets

Campers will explore different regions of the world and choose their favorite animals. They will use different materials to make finger puppets of the animals and then identify whether they are a bird, mammal or insect.

Campers will learn about different ecosystems around the world and the animals living in them. They’ll also learn about a phenomenon known as convergent evolution, in which adaptations are shared by different animals that live in similar regions. Favorite animals can vary greatly and this activity encourages campers to express themselves and be creative.

Snake Scales

Snake Scales

Campers will learn about scaley serpents in all their forms. Using aluminum can tabs, campers will assemble wearable shirts of protective armor and build snake scale mail to be worn as protection from the elements and predators.

Not all snakes are venomous and not all snakes are constrictors. Campers will learn about the diversity of snakes and how they have adapted to different environments. They will understand why snakes have scales and how they are able to shed their skin as they grow. Campers will also look at different types of scales to appreciate the unique morphology that has evolved in many different species.

Carnivore Mask

Carnivore Mask

In this delicious lesson, campers will learn about what it means to be a carnivore. They will construct masks equipped with adaptations that allow them to capture and consume prey items. Campers who are not interested in being carnivores may choose to construct an herbivore mask.

Campers will learn about adaptations that are unique to carnivores. They have large teeth for gripping prey and generally have large, forward-facing eyes to easily track the movement of prey. Campers will also be exploring some predator/prey relationships, as well as play an animal guessing game to see if they can identify what an animal eats based on its adaptations.
