Trees & Me (K-1st grade)

Grades: Pre-K-K

All Programs

Connect to nature through science, as we identify trees and plants in our local communities. Campers will walk through the life cycles of trees and see how their seasons are not only beautiful scenery, but are a part of our eminent ecosystem. Campers will document and describe the wonders of trees and their importance to us by participating in nature walks, collecting samples, crafting art projects, and performing science experiments! Get rooted in science with Trees & Me!

Students will learn that trees are living plants that come in different shapes and sizes. With this activity they will be able to create their favorite tree by building its basic structure – including roots, trunk, branches, leaves, and fruit!

Pine Cone Weather Station

Pine Cone Weather Station

Students will explore different pine cones to determine what season they belong to according to their shape, color and size! Once campers have discovered the season each pine cone belongs to, they will create a seasonal painting with all the colors found in summer, fall, winter and spring!

Students will discover how the seasons affect trees throughout the year. They’ll see how leaves change, fruit ripens and pinecones form and house seeds that we can eventually use to plant more trees!
