Dear EDMO Camper, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Camp EDMO’s Minecraft Magic Academy! In this week of witchcraft and wizardry, campers will learn and practice fundamental computer literacy skills as they participate in a series of magic-themed Minecraft mini-games. Campers will brew fun and fantastical concoctions at “Potions Class”, as they practice mouse movement, left vs. right-click, and menu manipulation. They’ll also practice spells and incantations at “Charms Class” while learning keyboard layout and multi-key shortcuts. Campers will even get the chance to design and build their own magical Minecraft tower to add to the Academy’s castle. So pack your wand, roll your scrolls and prepare for a spellbound week!!

21st Century & SEL Skill Focus: Problem Solving, Creativity, Collaboration, Emotion Management, Computer Literacy. Learn more about other skills we build through The EDMO Method®.

Take a look at your camper's daily schedule below, under sample projects!

Sample Projects

Potions Class

Potions Class

Campers will get to create a wide assortment of potions in Minecraft, granting effects like super strength, underwater breathing and invisibility. They’ll even use some potion recipes that have never before been seen in Minecraft!

In order to properly use the brewing stands required for crafting potions, campers will learn and practice careful mouse movement, left vs. right-clicking and double-clicking.

Charms Class

Charms Class

By typing out the correct incantation, campers will be able to cast all kinds of spells and enchantments. They’ll levitate objects, grow super-sized plants, conjure self-building structures, and more.

As campers type out their incantations, they’ll become more familiar with the layout of letters on the keyboard, paving the way for touch-typing.

Build a Magic Tower

Build a Magic Tower

The Minecraft Magic Academy castle is looking to renovate one of its towers, with the help of EDMO® campers of course! Each pair of campers will get to design and build a magical tower of their very own.

As they construct and refine their creations in Minecraft, campers will practice 3D spatial reasoning, a key skill for any 3D design software.

Sample Schedule

  • A Day in the Life...

Some kids thrive on routines and harmony. Others not so much. Good news! We’ve found the secret recipe that works for all EDMO campers!

DAY/TIME: 1st-2nd sample schedule
Early Care

Need to get to work early? We understand. By 8 am our staff is already hard at work helping our campers make new friends, doing arts & crafts projects and playing games.

Be greeted by name or a high five by a professional staff member…dressed in a mermaid costume or a Viking hat. In a hurry? Pull up and we’ll open the door for you. In no rush? Park your car, come right in and shake your counselor’s fin.

Morning Rally

Although we have a strict “No Nuts” food policy, we have also have a strict “Go Nuts” rally policy. You never know what surprises await when staff and kids take the stage for songs, skits, dress up days, and ridiculous contests.

Game Time

Game Time is all about playing games and having some good ‘ol run-around time. During Game Time, campers will participate in organized recreation activities designed to promote teamwork, collaboration and fun physical activity.

Active minds lead to hungry bellies! Don’t forget to pack a healthy snack for your camper every morning…with no nuts of course! Remember: If you ordered a delicious lunch, you automatically receive a healthy morning snack!

Enrichment 1

During enrichment stations, campers really get into the weekly theme and curriculum. Campers are introduced to the weekly subject and concepts, learn new skills and facts, and design, create and build daily and weekly projects.

Lunch available at your location?  It’s a snap to add a delicious lunch each day! Just click/check the lunch box on your enrollment form and a quality lunch will be delivered to camp daily. Packing you own lunch? Please just do not bring any products that contain: cashews, almonds, brazil nuts, pine nuts, walnuts or heaven forbid, the “Mother of All Nut Allergies”—the peanut.

Enrichment 2

During enrichment stations, campers really get into the weekly theme and curriculum. Campers are introduced to the weekly subject and concepts, learn new skills and facts, and design, create and build daily and weekly projects.

Team Time

In Team Time, we focus on team building and community. We get to know our teammates names, meet our Kimochis’ friends, create group names and cheers, and play the EDMO Vibe™ Game. We also take time to strengthen our SEL skills and focus on the EDMO RECIPE of Responsibility, Empathy, Collaboration, Initiative, Problem Solving and Emotion Management. Every day is different and we may do this through literature, various methods of meditation, group activities and/or positive vibes. Team time is where the words on our shirts come to fruition and we work on being curious, courageous and kind HUMANS.

Closing Rally

Our Afternoon rally ends the day in an upbeat way. This gives staff  a chance to wrap up the day, make announcements for the days to follow and give SNAPS!

Pull up or walk up, whichever you fancy. Either way we’ll make a point to let you know something special about your child’s day. Look out for our daily email from the Camp Director detailing the activities at your camp location, along with a reminder to visit EDMO At Home to see what to look forward to tomorrow and suggested activities, books, websites, museum exhibitions, and more ways to keep the curiosity going.

After Care, PM Snack & Free Play

Need a little more time in your day? Our After Care Program is a great option. Campers stay safe while parents or guardians finish up the work day or sneak in that last appointment before picking up the kids. While you’re away, campers can play as they enjoy a little more free time with each other and staff. After Care goes from 3 pm – 6 pm but parents can pick up whenever works for them…but no later than 6 pm please! Our staff needs to get home too.

“My son has been SO HAPPY this week. He loves the counselors and has really felt like he can unleash his inner goofy self. As a kid who is often reluctant to try new things, I am so happy that he loves it so much!”
– Lisa T., 2nd Grade SF-Sunset Parent
