Incredible Edibles

Grades: 1-2, 3-4

All Programs

Let’s cook up a good time this summer! In Incredible Edibles, campers will dig into the science of food by learning when vegetables are in season and how they are grown. Campers will also discover the math of food by finding symmetry and learning how to portion things equally. They’ll then experiment with food chemistry by testing cooking techniques in their own kitchens. All recipes will be logged into their Camper Cookbooks to be shared with family and friends at the end of the week!

21st Century & SEL Skill Focus: Responsibility, Communication, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Initiative, Collaboration. Learn more about other skills we build through The EDMO Method®.

Take a look at your camper's daily schedule below, under sample projects!

Sample Projects

Camper Cookbook

Camper Cookbook

Campers will test recipes at camp and compile them into a Camper Cookbook to share with friends and family. Prime campers will emphasize the steps they can do on their own and identify the steps that need a helping hand. Max campers will add cooking notes and revisions.

Campers will learn how to read, annotate and catalog recipes. Their cookbook will also show all of the cooking techniques that they will be practicing throughout the week.

Seasons and Weather

Seasons and Weather

Campers will make seasonal eating guides with visual representations for each time of the year.

Campers will describe and count the length of each of the different seasons. Campers will also learn that changing seasons mean access to different types of food.

Parts We Eat

Parts We Eat

Campers will create a diagram that shows which parts of the plant that particular fruits and vegetables come from.

Campers will learn all about the different parts of the plant and which of those parts we eat. Campers will see their favorite foods in a new light and encountering new ones to taste!

Sample Schedule

  • A Day in the Life...

Some kids thrive on routines and harmony. Others not so much. Good news! We’ve found the secret recipe that works for all EDMO campers!

Prime & Max 1st Half Day Schedule

Check In
9:30 AM (PST)

To ensure your child’s safety and privacy, we have a moderated check-in process that takes approximately 10-15 minutes. As children log in, they’ll be greeted and asked their name and where they’re from!

Opening Rally
9:40 AM (PST)

You never know what surprises await when staff and kids get together. At rally, we’ll share songs, skits, jokes, and ridiculous contests. We might even dress up!

Enrichment 1
9:50 AM (PST)

During enrichment stations, campers really get into the weekly theme and curriculum. Campers are introduced to the weekly subject and concepts, learn new skills and facts, and design, create and build daily and/or weekly projects.

Break
10:50 AM (PST)

Everybody needs a break now and then. This the perfect time for campers to stretch, go the restroom or grab a quick snack before they wind up their morning or afternoon of camp.

Rec 1
11:05 AM (PST)

Just because we’re online doesn’t mean that campers can’t get some physical exercise as well. During our Rec periods, campers will get up and moving with stretching, yoga, jump roping, silly dance moves, and more!

Team Time
11:20 AM (PST)

In Team Time, we focus on team building and community. We get to know our teammates names, meet our Kimochis’ friends and create group names and cheers. We also take time to strengthen our SEL skills and focus on the EDMO RECIPE of Responsibility, Empathy, Collaboration, Initiative, Problem Solving, and Emotion Management. Every day is different and we may do this through literature, various methods of meditation, group activities and/or positive vibes. We work on being curious, courageous and kind HUMANS.

Closing Rally
11:50 AM (PST)

Whether morning or afternoon, our closing rally ends the day in an upbeat way. This gives staff a chance to wrap up the day, make announcements for the days to follow and give SNAPS!

End of Day
12:00 PM (PST)

We know, it’s hard to leave behind all that camp fun. Don’t worry, we’ll all be coming back again tomorrow.
