Gizmos & Gadgeteers
Grades: 1 - 4

Become an inventor of spy gadgets and uncover the mystery of spy science in Gizmos & Gadgeteers! Spies and detectives all over the world use their brains and their senses, with the help of some nifty gizmos and gadgets, to solve crimes, uncover mysteries and thwart the bad guys! This summer, campers will develop their detective and spy skills by making super secret spy tools, dusting for fingerprints and making secret codes and hideaways. They’ll also practice and hone their skills as an inventor as they design and build their very own spy gadget to help spies and detectives solve the next great mystery!

21st Century & SEL Skill Focus: Problem Solving, Responsibility, Emotion Management, Empathy, Creativity. Learn more about other skills we build through The EDMO Method™.

Fun Fact. In 2018, there was a 30% increase in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills developed for those who attended two weeks of Camp EDMO™ and a 39% increase for returning EDMO™ families over new families!

Sample Projects

Hideaway Books

Hideaway Books

Campers will make what appears to be a book, but upon closer inspection turns out to be a secret hideaway for other spy gizmos!

Campers will learn how illusions work and how to trick someone’s eyes into believing that something is one thing, when it is really something entirely different!

Extend-o-Arm (1st-2nd only)

Extend-o-Arm (1st-2nd only)

Campers will design and build a device to help extend the length of their arms. Sometimes spies need to reach things in out of the way places and need a gadget to help them!

Through this project, campers will learn all about the sense of touch and the sensory experiences we have through our fingers and hands. Campers will also learn how to design and build a device that extends our reach.

Light Up Spy Watch (3rd-4th only)

Light Up Spy Watch (3rd-4th only)

Campers will design and make a device that looks like an LED watch but is actually a communication device for spies and detectives to communicate with one another!

Campers will learn basic circuitry and how an LED works. Campers will also learn how spies and detectives communicate secretly over short and long distances.

“I am so thankful for EDMO and the coaches/instructors. I don't know what they do but nut whatever it is its amazing. My son always feels welcome, never overwhelmed and is excited to go. He told me he would go to EDMO all year if he could...My son has a place where he fits in and that means the world to him and us.”
