Camp Director

Belinda Sparks Belinda Sparks
Belinda Sparks

Born and raised in Oakland California Belinda has a real love for the people who reside here. While growing up an only child to a single mother, she had ample time to cultivate many creative skills. As a youngster on any given day Belinda could be found somewhere happily singing, dancing, drawing, painting, or writing poetry. Many years later while in college she discovered two new great loves in life; working with kids and all things science. During her last summer as a college student Belinda got to be a counselor for a camp in the Sierra Mountains, and has been working with kids ever since. In 2014 she was the first in her family to graduate from a four year university, with a B.S. in Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be the Director for CAMP EDMO Oakland! I look forward to the many creative adventures ahead. I’m known by many for my big smile and loving heart, and I just can’t wait to share those with every single person at CAMP EDMO!”
Belinda Sparks, Oakland Camp Director

As a kid, Greg could be always be found outside in the sun, playing sports, chasing geese, or inhaling a fruit punch juice box. Throughout high school and college Greg has found his passion for both children and education. At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Greg is studying Philosophy and Law in hopes that one day he will be able to make education accessible to everyone. Gregor is returning for his second summer at EDMO, and cannot wait to meet all of the future EDMO campers! Come find him if you like to play kickball or banana tag!

Sarah is excited to start her first summer at CAMP EDMO! From Ithaca, New York, she is a beginning graduate student in Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. Takiyah is a lover of sunflowers, peacocks and sunsets! This will be Takiyah’s first summer at CAMP EDMO and she is super excited to meet some lovely campers!

Born and raised in Oakland, Maribel now attends Sonoma State University and seeks to become a Child Protective Services Social Worker(CPS) in Oakland. Growing up she has seen both sides of Oakland, the good and the bad and nothing has stopped her from loving the city she grew up in. Feeling like a second mother to her 12 year old little brother, she believes every child has a voice and is better off practicing using that voice as a child. This will be her first summer at CAMP EDMO and she is very excited to meet the campers and begin doing what she loves!

Ana will be a junior next year at Willamette University. She is majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish. She was born in Madrid, Spain and was then raised in San Diego. This is her first summer at CAMP EDMO, and she is looking forward to sharing a fun and education filled summer with her campers; including the songs and games she learned from her previous camp experiences.

Elissa Carrillo-Medina integrates optimism and activism into their daily life.
