About the Campus

Our Oakland (Park) location is nestled in the heart of the Temescal Regional Recreation Area at the Big Rock Picnic site at Lake Temescal.  This spot is both beautiful and calming, with a great view of the lake. Located between Highway 13 and Highway 24, the Big Rock Picnic area offers easy accessibility in a comfortable setting. Picnic tables and large grassy fields are surrounded by natural hiking trails that will lead our aspiring naturalists through the rolling hills and around Lake Temescal.

Jack Nelson

Jack can’t wait to get started at Camp EDMO™ for his first summer! A native Upstate New Yorker, he received his Bachelor’s in Philosophy at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY, and started working at Colgate University in 2016 as an Assistant Director of Residential Life. For the past two years he has helped his community foster an inclusive campus environment where students can flourish in their pursuit of a college degree. When not in the Adirondack Mountains or swimming in New York State’s many lakes with his greyhound, Sammie, Jack is making ceramics, reading a new book, or playing a board game with friends. California is calling, however, and Jack can’t help but answer this new opportunity to serve as an EDMO Camp Director.
