Overview: Campers’ days are filled with naturalist-guided hikes, hands-on arts & science projects, organized recreation games, and Let’s Go Chipper!™ nature activities. Activities are customized to the geography, history, nature, and local ecosystem of the region. Note: Our older entering 2nd-4th grade group also go on field trips 2-3 times per week. On rare occasions, and with prior parental written consent, the younger group may be invited to join a field trip.
2015 Weekly Themes
Locomotion: All aboard for non-stop transportation excitement! Campers uncover the science and engineering that keeps our world running. Wheel, wind and wing themed projects and games put campers in the driver’s seat. Build a hot air balloon, explore magnetic levitation, join a boat race, and attend the Edmo pilot’s training school!
Action Art: It’s aliiive! This week campers unleash their creativity and bring art to life through sculpture, theatre, music, and dance. Students discover the world of acting and puppetry, play self-made instruments, learn world dances, and discover how to share their art with others. Bravo!
California Dreaming: What’s so special about California? Campers discover for themselves through art and science projects featuring the ecology, geography, geology, and history of the Golden State. Your child will be shouting “Eureka!” as they explore California’s native plants and animals, find out what causes those spooky earthquakes and learn what it was like to be one of California’s first inhabitants.
Space Journey: Blast off with Edmo for art and science that’s out of this world! Our space week will take campers on an otherworldly adventure filled with extraterrestrial art and science projects. It’s fun at the speed of light as children discover the life of stars, build spaceships and get face to face with outer space using their very own telescopes!
